Gavin Mc Kiernan

In addition to founding and leading LBNF since its inception, Gavin has volunteered his time as a member of the board of the Neighborhood Advisory Group, the Newcomb Academy Foundation the Wrigley Association and the Georgetown Alumni Club of Orange County. Gavin currently splits his professional efforts between raising money for several non-profits (including the Reportage Foundation which he co-founded) and managing events for a diverse group of clients throughout Southern California.

Previously, Gavin worked as Director of Marketing for Run Racing, an event management company that puts on events for more than 60,000 participants during the year. Their largest event is the 25,000 person Long Beach Marathon. He also was Director of Membership Development for the Parents Television Council (PTC), a national advocacy group with more than 1.3 million members dedicated to protecting children from graphic sex, violence and profanity in the media.

As a National Spokesperson for PTC, Gavin appeared as a guest on numerous news programs including Fox News and CNN.

His writing on education and children’s issues have been printed in The Washington Post, The New York Times, and dozens of other publications.

During his time at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Gavin and his staff were recognized as the best overall Boys and Girls Club program out of more than 3,000 in the nation.

Gavin graduated from Georgetown University ’s School of Foreign Service with a BS in Foreign Service, and continues to take an active part in his alma mater. He also completed the Advanced Leadership Certificate Program at Clemson University, graduated from the Leadership Institute’s Grassroots Activist School and the Neighborhood Leadership Program sponsored by the National Center for Community Justice and was selected as a McCabe Executive Leadership Fellow.

He has completed 18 full marathons including the New York, Long Beach, Los Angeles and Marine Corp Marathons.

Gavin was raised in Brooklyn, NY but has lived in Southern California with his wife, two children and his dog for more than 15 years.
